INDORE: After being stuck in the pipeline for the last five years, the proposal for a cardiac centre at MY Hospital finally got an approval from the state government and has sanctioned Rs 31.88 crore for it. The state of the art 55-bed centre will start preparing the hospital to cater to patients from neighbouring districts looking for cost-effective cardiac treatment.
The two-storey unit will be constructed above the casualty building and is likely to be ready in the next 1.5 to 2 years. The project will be executed by a specialised project implementation unit (PIU) from the public works department (PWD). Indore divisional commissioner and MGMMC executive committee head Sanjay Dubey said, “The state government has approved the project and over Rs 31 crore has been sanctioned for the centre. The construction site has already been finalised and work will begin soon.”
For the last five years, the project proposal had just been doing the rounds among bureaucratic circles. In September 2011, the hospital administration sent a Rs 49-crore rough draft prepared by PWD to the government and the finance department took objection towards it.
